Sacra di San Michele

So after the rather bummer of an end to our second ski day we headed to Italy after lunch in France in order to check out the Sacra di San Michele.

It was a tiny bit of a hairy drive.  Bloody narrow roads and lots of people sprung out of nowhere on said roads.  We think it was the amazing weather for this time of year and the afternoon light.  The Sacra catches the light just so.  It looked like a glistening jewel.  This region is of course heavily Catholic.  Tourists? Not as we know them.  They were Italian.  Home tourists.  No busses.  I bet it gets lots of buses during busy seasons.  What a nightmare that drive would be.

Honestly though, worth the stress of the narrow roads.  Geez, it wasn't like I was driving.  Poor Andy!  Looking back now we aren't going to be in that part of Europe again anytime soon.  Who is?  Rather out of the way, lying in the most western corner of northern Italy hidden away in the Piedmonte alps. It really is a beautiful thing.

OK just gonna say this is post skiing so we were in our ski gear.  Andy is not a suspender wearer usually.  But it's common with mens ski pants.
