The Garden

The work we did whilst we were there was astonishing.  We didn’t think for a second we’d get so much done.  The weather was amazing which helped and Joey and dad have unending energy and enthusiasm which also helped.  The best days were the ones when we were all doing our bit, relaxing at lunch only to get back to it and then sitting at dinner admiring our work and chatting about the day.

Dad and Andy moved our stone seat in the lower garden to a spot with a view now that the dead trees are gone.  They built a new stone seat on the top part of the garden in a spot with a view.  Now we have 2 stone seats with views!  The seats do not look as heavy as they are.  The stone hanging about our land is very very very heavy and it was no small job.

They also put some shutters found in the old house on the window of the old house.  Andy will finish that off and paint the door.  Andy started building our wall at the front.  Dad did so much heavy gardening work it was astonishing.  He’s unrelenting.  Very very stong and fit.  Joey and I did our bit.  Joey dug holes with dad and Joey planted loads of plants.  We just hope our bonne chance works because we are both a little slap dash.

I can’t wait to return to see what our garden is up to.

As it was when we arrived.  The stairs going to the bottom part of the section and the little walled planter area beside them were done recently by Christope.  We hadn't seen them until we got there.

Planting bulbs (with Joey but she took this photo!)

This digging was a job in itself.  The ground is very hard, lots of rocks.  Dad did an amazing job and Joey helped too

And the seat Andy and dad moved on our lower part of the section.  It has a good view now that the dead trees are gone

The shutters Andy and dad put up.  Found in the old house.  Andy will finish them and paint the front door with a similar paint effect
