La Bastide de Boulbon, Boulbon, Provence, France

This hotel was perfect maintained and set in glorious gardens.  The rooms were on the small side but the setting more than made up for that.  The meals at night were served candle light in the courtyard and the chef was a very clever young man indeed.  Light, tasty, local produce and faultless meals.

We did enjoy our time at the Bastide, the location is fabulous with oodles of options for day trips around the Provincial countryside.  There's a good running road leading up to the Abby which is about 12kms round trip.  We found the hotel itself a little "stiff".  It simply lacked that lovely casual vibe a hotel of this nature in this sort of area usually carries and for that reason we won't be returning.  But hey, it is a lovely spot and the location and in-house restaurant are superb.

Breakfast in the garden.
