Casa Isabella, Vaglio Serra, Piedmonte, Italy

I was completely blown over by Casa Isabella.  Located in the tiny village of Vaglio Serra in the heart of Piedmonte this is a place that is testament to the owners' attention to detail, flair and highest regard to service.  Alessandro and Monica run the Casa with care.  They have overseen every detail.

The rooms were difficult to capture in photos.  They have charm in abundance, modern bathrooms, hand embroydered linens.  Candles are everywhere and Monica slips into the room when you are out at dinner to prepare it for the evening, turning down the bed, lighting candles.

Breakfast is sumptuous (luckily we ran in the Piedmonte hills every morning early to prepare for the decadent cakes on offer) and Monica cooks dinners in-house for guests several times a week.  We had one such meal and ummmm.....very very very delicious.  Her pesto was heavenly, her tirimisu which was like 1,000 layers was the most intricate version of this dessert I've ever encountered (and probably will ever encounter) it will remain with me for years to come.  The local restaurant 10 minutes walk in the tiny village of Vaglio Serra is also very very good and perched on the hilltop with a view of the valley below.

We loved every second at Casa Isabella.  Piedmonte is glorious.  Rows and rows and rows of grapes, beautiful rolling countryside, stunning villages.  Casa Isabella is a perfect base with attentive, lovely owners and I do plan on returning (maybe next time in truffle season).

The clothes rack in our room was a work of art

Casa Isabella (don't be mislead by the "rustic" nature of the garden, this place is a jewel.
