The Dubai Mall... the biggest in the world and not my thing I'm
afraid. But I said I'd give her a day
and I did. It turned into a
morning. Not really her thing either as
it turns out. A girl after my own heart,
not a HUGE shopper. Big enough - ie age
appropriate - but not huge. Whew. Andy tagged along. He was damn relieved too because he was
willing to get a taxi home if need be. Yes. Christmas is BIG here.

The Grand Mosque Abu Dhabi
The Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi is a
beauty. And it's fun if you go and get a
Abaya. It's all free. An incredible service and a show of
generosity from our hosting home. We are
proud to live in the UAE and the sheer beauty of this mosque exemplifies what
we see as Muslim culture. It's a
beautiful thing. And a gorgeous young
woman in her Abaya.
And back into civies heading home.
Dubai after day one....
Night time at Dubai Marina. The Dubai Marina Music Festival (yay) was on. Andy and I were bloody knackered. No sleep. Katya sleeps the sleep of the dead bless her. Her alarm would wake US up (if we were asleep that is)..... oh if only.
I simply love this photo. In live mode it's even more awesome. But the still will have to do. She sucked it up so that I could at least take some. (she hated it but I reckon it's awesome to have a record forever in whatever cloud this stuff lives on. I'm very high tech don't you know.
So onwards to the Dubai Creek. She HATED having every single pashmina and scarf plonked round her neck. It took her all of 2 minutes to dart off in defence mode. Very proud I was indeed. I hate that too. But they loved her there. Gotta say.
Madinat Jumeriah was the next port of call..... and what a dress. Rather showed Andy and I up in our sloppy slops.
Katya's trip, day one.....
We had the luxury of spending almost 5 weeks with Katya. And what an incredible 5 weeks it was. So I'm going to do a series of posts for my own reference.
I'm not saying that Juanitz was concerned about her 16 year old flying across the globe but she did send me this screen shot of "here she is" (yes K as you'd agree I can use the "" on this one). She is of course the little red plane south of Singapore.
I had her room ready with a cute camel I bought her. Little camel was her family support. She had FaceTime. The camel was my idea of support. I'm absolutely nuts that way as she'll fully attest to.
Oh if only I looked this good ever......and she's just stepped of an 18 hour flight!
First morning, (she arrived at 5am, still looking good hours later. Oh to be young) we went to the beach for a walk. Yeap it's Muslim here but very accepting. Christmas is Christmas after all .....
